Dutchy’s (2,500) – Biological control of the red mite with predatory mites
Please note: As these are live animals, it is unfortunately not possible to purchase on account or by direct debit. This product cannot be exchanged!
Important instructions for application |
1. hold the bottle horizontally and rotate it slowly around its own axis a few times. This distributes the predatory mites evenly throughout the material. |
2. use the table below to calculate how many piles should be placed in the cage or nest. Pour some material from the bottle into the cap. One full cap is sufficient for one application site. Use this amount to carefully make a small pile at the selected location. |
3. leave this heap alone for at least 2 weeks. Every day, various predatory mites will migrate from the heap into the nest or cage. |
4. use all the material. It is not possible to store it for a longer period of time, otherwise the predatory mites will eat each other in the bottle. |
5. place the empty bottle in the cage or nest for at least another day after leaving it out. If there are still predatory mites inside, they can still crawl out. |
Effective predatory mite control for terrariums and chicken coops: Dutchy’s (2,500)
Hypoaspis miles (predatory mites) are ground-living predators with a wide range of prey, including bird mites and blood mites. They are therefore ideal for use in terrariums, aviaries, chicken coops and other areas where biological control without the use of insecticides is desired. Development from egg to sexually mature beneficial insect takes around 12 days at a temperature of 25°C. The eggs and nymphs are white, whereas adult predatory mites are brown and up to 1 mm in size. A predatory mite can consume up to 5 blood mites per day and lays up to 3 eggs per day. Biological control with Mite Boosters can influence the natural balance in favor of the predatory mites and to the detriment of the blood mites. Visible success can be seen after just a few days. In many cases, the blood mites are completely eradicated within a few weeks. In the case of a high initial infestation, we recommend a follow-up treatment with additional Mite Boosters after approx. 6 weeks. The predatory mite can survive for several weeks without food, so that preventative use of these predatory mites is possible. The control of snake mites, spider mites (Tarantula is very often infested) or mites with predatory mites has also proved successful in terrariums. Use Dutchy’s (2,500) – contents approx. 2,500 predatory mites for effective and biological pest control.
