French millet yellow 1kg – Straight feeding stuff for healthy and happy birds
What is yellow foxtail millet?
Yellow foxtail millet is an unthreshed crop in which the seeds are still in their natural packaging. This means that the birds still have to work a little for their food by picking the seeds individually out of the fruit stand, i.e. the cob. This is therefore a near-natural food intake.
Why is foxtail millet good for birds?
The small millet seeds attract small birds such as sparrows, finches, goldfinches and dunnocks and are also a tasty treat for all ornamental birds such as budgerigars, cockatiels, exotic birds and parrots.
Feeding recommendation
Offer birds millet as a treat in small quantities. Although millet is comparatively low in fat, it can lead to obesity in birds if consumed in large quantities. It is important to ensure a balanced diet.
Nutritional information for foxtail millet
Millet contains relatively little fat. On average, 100 g of millet contains a maximum of 4 g of fat – in comparison, sunflower seeds contain around 50 g of fat per 100 g. Millet should therefore only be given in small quantities as an occasional treat. If birds were allowed to eat large quantities of millet every day, many of them would spurn the other food and only eat the popular millet. This would soon lead to a considerable lack of nutrients, as the diet would be too one-sided.
