Yellow foxtail millet for birds – natural and tasty
Yellow foxtail millet is a high-quality straight feeding stuff that has been specially developed for birds. It particularly attracts small birds such as sparrows, finches, goldfinches and dunnocks. Here is the most important information:
Origin and cultivation
- The yellow foxtail millet is grown in various regions, including China, Central Asia, Afghanistan, India, South-East Asia, South-East Europe, South Africa and Australia.
- It thrives on nutrient-rich clay and sandy soils and is a natural food source for our feathered friends.
Natural feed intake
In contrast to threshed millet, the seeds of yellow foxtail millet are still in their natural “packaging”. This promotes near-natural food intake, as the birds can enjoy the seeds as they occur in nature.
Feeding recommendations
- We recommend offering foxtail millet as a treat in small quantities.
- Excessive consumption can lead to obesity, as millet contains relatively little fat compared to other seeds (maximum 4 g fat per 100 g compared to around 50 g fat per 100 g for sunflower seeds).
- Nevertheless, you should make sure that your bird’s diet is not too one-sided in order to avoid nutritional deficiencies.
Offer your customers high-quality yellow foxtail millet and support the natural diet of your feathered friends! ??
